Sara Allsop is recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading editorial and session stylists, with a distinguished career that spans editorial fashion, international runways, and mentorship within the hairdressing industry.
Throughout her career, Sara has built a remarkable portfolio of editorial work and creative direction, collaborating with top fashion magazines, designers, and photographers both in New Zealand and on the global stage. She regularly works in major fashion capitals including New York, Paris, London, and Milan, contributing to couture shows and high-profile fashion editorial productions.
Sara’s excellence has been acknowledged through multiple prestigious industry awards. She is a three-time recipient of the Hair Expo NZ Hairdresser of the Year title, and her recent win at the Australian Hair Industry Awards (Creative) further underscores her ongoing creative leadership and peer recognition.
Beyond her own artistic output, Sara has played a pivotal role in advancing editorial standards and creative expression in hairstyling. She has produced and art-directed numerous fashion shows and editorial shoots, bringing a refined aesthetic and technical precision to fashion imagery and storytelling through hair.
Sara is equally celebrated for her commitment to education and mentorship. As co-founder of initiatives such as Industry Collective, the Protege Competition, and the NZ Hair & Fashion Awards, she creates platforms that empower emerging stylists to grow, compete, and gain visibility. She also champions creative development through programs like the Industry Creative Young Artist Team and involvement with Hair Expo Australia’s Gen Next NZ, nurturing the next generation of talent.
Her reputation as both a creative force and an educator stems from her dedication to lifting the broader hair industry — not just through her own work, but by giving others the tools, inspiration, and opportunities to excel.
