INTRODUCING THE 2024 JUDGES
NZ HAIRDRESSER
WHO CAN ENTER
Any NZ hairdresser with at least 8 years hairdressing experience including training.
HOW TO ENTER
Create an exclusive photographic collection of three images show casing your hairdressing skills.
Three models must be used in the collection
Wigs and hairpieces may be used in your collection
Your photos should be current, fashionable, inspirational, aspirational and represent a collection
Your photos must not have been published or entered into any other competition
CREATIVE COLOUR
WHO CAN ENTER
Any NZ hairdresser with at least 3 years hairdressing experience including training.
HOW TO ENTER
Create ONE exclusive image that showcases your work as a colourist. Your photo should be creative, avant grade and be supported with a creative haircut or style and makeup/styling
Your photo must not have been published or entered into any other competition
FASHION COLOUR
WHO CAN ENTER
Any NZ hairdresser with at least 3 years hairdressing experience including training.
HOW TO ENTER
Create ONE exclusive image that showcases your work as a colourist. Your photo should be fashion forward, beautiful, show great finish and be supported with a commercial haircut or style and makeup/styling
Your photo must not have been published or entered into any other competition
NEWCOMER
WHO CAN ENTER
Any NZ hairdresser with no more than 5 years hairdressing experience including training.
HOW TO ENTER
Create ONE image that showcases your work as a new stylist to the hairdressing industry
Your photo can be creative, avant grade, or fashionable and editorial forward. Show us what inspires you.
Your photo CAN have been published to your social media prior to this competition
MENS FASHION
WHO CAN ENTER
Any NZ hairdresser or Barber with at least 2 years hairdressing experience including training.
HOW TO ENTER
Create ONE exclusive image that showcases your work as a mens stylist and/or barber
Your photo should be fashion forward, creative show great finish and be supported with great styling
Your photo must NOT have been published or entered into any other competition
TRANSFORMATION STYLIST
WHO CAN ENTER
Any NZ hairdresser and/or Barber
HOW TO ENTER
Create ONE video that showcases your work in the salon or barber shop from start to finish
Your video cannot be more than 60 sec in duration and must show the before and after results in the beginning of the video
Your video CAN be a video you have published on social media prior to this competition
FREELANCE ARTIST
WHO CAN ENTER
Any NZ hairdresser that has produced work outside of the salon. To include: Editorial, Bridal, Film/TV, Glam
HOW TO ENTER
Submit three images that showcase your work as a freelance artist
Your photos should show great hair technique for the respective service you provide.
Your photos can have been published and/pr posted to your social media pages prior to this competition
DIGITAL INFLUENCER
WHO CAN ENTER
Any NZ hairdresser, Barber and Makeup Artiist who has a strong online presence
HOW TO ENTER
Submit a three page portfolio no more than 5 mb of you social media presence that shows, your work, followers, insights and engagement, on any or all of the social media platforms
MAKEUP ARTIST
WHO CAN ENTER Any NZ makeup artist
HOW TO ENTER
Submit three images that showcase your work as a Makeup Artist Your photos should show great makeup technique and finish
Your photos can have been previously published online or in print prior to this competition
RULES & REGULATIONS
DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES 13th May 2024
All entries are to be emailed to sara.allsop@xtra.co.nz no later than 5pm Entry is $50 per entry with the exception of Newcomer which is free
Photographs must be no larger than 1mb each
PDF for Digital Influencer no larger than 5mb
Entries for NZ Hairdresser must be three individual photos AS WELL as a film strip PDF of the entire collection no larger than 5mb
NZ Hairdresser can also enter colour categories with outtakes from their collection. Makeup Artist can also enter an outtake from NZ Hairdresser collection
Wigs and hairpieces my be used, however with the colour categories these must be natural and must have been coloured prior to use.
Retouching is allowed
All work submitted for the NZ HAIR & FASHION AWARDS must be solely the work of the entrant and must not have been entered into any other competition unless where specified
All work is accepted in good faith. Instant disqualification will apply to any candidates found abusing this
NZ HAIR & FASHION AWARDS retains exclusivity of all award photographs submitted for the NZ Hairdressing Awards, and may use them for advertising and promotion of the Industry Collective and the NZ HAIR & FASHION AWARDS
